Refining Treatment Decisions for Patients with Early Stage Breast Cancer: Molecular – Based Assays


OBJECTIVES

• Describe the limitations of clinically-based prognostic factors to determine risk of recurrence in patients with early stage breast cancer

• Describe the technology underlying the genomic assay or underlying the genomics-based assay currently available to assess risk of recurrence in patients with early stage
breast cancer

• Describe the results of the Oncotype DX validation studies for patients with axillary node negative, hormone receptor positive breast cancer patients

• Describe the rationale for the design of the TAILORx adjuvant trial
